Elderly man murdered with swords on Dhandra Road

A person travelling in a car was killed with swords on Dhandra Road near Missing Link 2 Highway in Ludhiana on Friday night. A video of the crime has also surfaced. A passer-by made the video on his mobile, which went viral on Saturday.

Police sources confirmed that the angle of extramarital affair of the deceased and a property dispute in the family were being probed by the police. It is also being suspected that some unidentified persons could be behind the murder. Some suspects were also being questioned by the police.

The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Singh (65). He remained the PA of SAD leader and former MP Jagdev Singh Talwandi in the past. Kuldeep Singh was a resident of Mundian village. He was into the property business. After spending some time abroad, he returned to the city.

The victim had left his farmhouse in his Volkswagen car at night. The miscreants, who were following him in a Delhi registration number Maruti Swift car, surrounded him on the highway. They pulled him out of the car and beat him up. The elderly man kept screaming for help but nobody came to his rescue.

The attackers made the victim lie down on the ground and attacked him with swords till he died. In the video of the incident, about three-four persons were seen attacking him.

Seeing Kuldeep lying in the middle of the road in a pool of blood, passers-by informed the police control room. SHO Avneet Kaur from Sadar and SHO Paramveer Singh from the Dugri police station reached the scene. The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Harjeet Singh, a relative of the deceased, said Kuldeep Singh used to be the PA of SAD leader Jagdev Singh Talwandi. Later, he went abroad. On Saturday, Gursevak, who works at the farmhouse, informed him about the victim’s death. At first, his family thought it was an accident. But when they saw the body, they came to know that he had been murdered.

SHO Avneet Kaur said the deceased’s farmhouse was close to the place where the incident occurred. He was going to his house from the farmhouse. Some people, who were chasing his car, surrounded him and killed him with sharp weapons.

ACP (South) Harjinder Singh said the police were close to solve the case. The assailants, who came in the car, were identified and raids were on to nab them.
