Elderly woman’s gold earrings snatched in Samrala

A daylight snatching occurred on Guru Nanak Road in Samrala, leaving an elderly woman traumatised and her nephew injured.

Paramjit Kaur, the victim, said on Thursday, a youth came on a motorcycle, inquiring about someone’s residence. He engaged her in a conversation, mentioning local acquaintances and asked for water. After drinking water, he briefly stepped away. He returned to her to discuss her health issues and accepting a cup of tea. As he was leaving, the suspect snatched her gold earrings and fled the scene. Her nephew Harjeet Singh chased him but the suspect hit him with a

sharp object, injuring the latter’s eye.

CCTV cameras captured the perpetrator escaping on his motorcycle.
