Ensure cleanliness across city areas, health officials told

Mayor Inderjit Kaur, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar and Deputy Mayor Prince Johar conducted a meeting with health branch officials at the MC Zone A office near the Mata Rani chowk on Friday.

Directions were issued to them to ensure cleanliness across city areas and attendance of sweepers at the ground level.

The Health Department officials have been directed to post pictures while marking attendance of sweepers in the field.

MC Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, Sanitation Officer Ashwani Sahota, Health Officer Vipal Malhotra, Chief Sanitary Inspectors (CSIs) and sanitary inspectors (SIs) were among those present in the meeting.

Mayor Inderjit Kaur said their aim was to make Ludhiana the number 1 city. Wherever required, challans would also be issued to adamant violators for littering, illegal slaughtering, etc, but the civic body would firstly appeal to residents to stop littering and support the it in keeping the city clean and green.

The Mayor said in coming days, she, along with Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor, would also conduct field inspections to ensure cleanliness.

During the meeting, the Mayor also took feedback from the officials and employees and assured them that they would take up their genuine demands, including regularisation of overaged employees, and efforts would be made to fulfil the same at the earliest.
