Evading arrest, ‘drug peddler’ falls off rooftop, dies

A ‘drug smuggler’ died this morning after accidentally falling from a rooftop while attempting to evade arrest during a police raid in the Rama Mandi area.
As per information, the police, acting on the directives of senior officials, conducted a raid at Tankian Mohalla to arrest those involved in smuggling and petty crimes. During the operation, a ‘smuggler’ identified as Lakhu became aware of the police presence and attempted to escape by jumping from one rooftop to another.
Lakhu lost his balance and fell from the roof, sustaining fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, he was declared dead at the scene. His body has been sent to the Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, for a post-mortem examination and further legal proceedings.
SHO Parminder Singh confirmed that the police were conducting a raid in the morning when Lakhu accidentally slipped from the rooftop in a bid to escape. He fell succumbed to his injuries.
