The demand was raised during a function held to inaugurate two dialysis units installed at Sood Hospital here by the local branch of the Rotary Club.

District governor Sandeep Chauhan and president Venu Gopal co-chaired the function, while Gajjan Majra was the chief guest. Justifying the demand to withdraw GST, being imposed on services done for humanity by these organisations, Gajjan Majra argued that grants worth lakhs that were being received from other countries under the Global Grant Scheme could be used to serve a wider range of beneficiaries if taxes and levies were not imposed voluntary organisations.
