Factory owner shoots himself dead with licensed weapon

A man died by suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver at Guru Gyan Vihar, Jawaddi, here. He took the extreme step due to the alleged harassment by his wife and three other persons.

Was in depression due to harassment: son
"My father had been living under depression due to the harassment by Paramjit Kaur and her family members. On August 2, he went to the PG accommodation in Ludhiana where he shot himself on the head with his licensed revolver,” Deepinder Singh, victim’s son said.

The deceased has been identified as Daljit Singh (70), a resident of Basant Avenue, Dugri. The suspects have been identified as Paramjit Kaur (55), deceased’s wife, her son Jagsir Singh, Jagsir’s wife Jyoti Kaur and Paramjit’s granddaughter Navjot Kaur, all residents of Bhawanigarh, Sangrur. A case was registered on the complaint of deceased’s son Deepinder Singh, alias Sunny.
Excluding Jagsir, the victim’s stepson, all three were arrested by the police and raids were being conducted by the police to nab him.
The complainant told the police that his father got married with a woman, Paramjit Kaur, of Bhawanigarh, Sangrur, in 2021. Since the wedding, his father had been staying with her at Bhawanigarh but for the past few days, his father had started staying alone at a paying guest accommodation in Ludhiana.
The complainant revealed that in April this year, his father came to their factory and said he was being harassed by Paramjit Kaur and her family members. His father also told him that the suspects were blackmailing him and were demanding money and share in his property.
“My father had been living under depression due to the harassment by Paramjit and her family members. On August 2, he went to the PG accommodation in Guru Gyan Vihar, Jawaddi, where he shot himself on the head with his licensed .32 bore revolver. He died on the spot,” he said. Dugri SHO Gurpreet Singh said the deceased owns a machine tools factory. After his death, three of the suspects were arrested and raids were being conducted to nab Jagsir.
