FIR against govt primary school head teacher
The Daba police have registered an FIR under Sections 409 and 420 of the IPC against the head teacher of Government Primary School (GPS), Sekhewal, here, for bungling of funds. The case was registered by the police on the basis of a complaint filed by the District Education Officer (Elementary Education) here.
The complaint was lodged after many irregularities were found by the Education Department at Government Primary School (GPS), Giaspura, where Nisha Rani, was the head teacher. During her tenure, she had allegedly demanded extra grants under the mid-day meal scheme, uniform grants, scholarship grants, etc. The school had approximately 2,500 students but the head teacher claimed excessive grants from the government by showing more student strength than the actual at the school.
After the department came to know about mass irregularities and discrepancies in the school, Nisha Rani was on the radar of the department. The DEO, Ravinder Kaur, and other inquiry officials visited the school to collect records but they allegedly did not get any support from the head teacher.
After a complaint was lodged with the higher authorities, the Education Department suspended the in-charge of GPS, Giaspura, Nisha Rani, with immediate effect in October 2024. The DEO Elementary, Ravinder Kaur, had claimed that several discrepancies were found in the school then and the in-charge had even refused to cooperate with inquiry officer Gurdeep Singh.
She had maintained that there was bogus attendance of students, dummy admissions and fund embezzlement in the school. Not only that, many teachers were allegedly threatened to remain tight-lipped.
“But since Nisha Rani was influential, she was reinstated in November again,” said one of the teachers of the Giaspura school. Now, after several meetings with higher-ups, it was decided to get an FIR lodged against Nisha Rani. The FIR was lodged on March 13 by the Daba police.
