Organising dog race at Rajewal village in Khanna has led to the registration of an FIR against the organisers and owners of dogs at Sadar Khanna police station. A case under various sections of the BNS and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act had been registered against the unidentified accused.

Complainant in the case Sinchana Subramanyan, cruelty response coordinator, PETA India, told the police in the complaint that on December 21, 2024, dog race was organised at Rajewal village despite it being already declared illegal as per the orders dated December 7, 2020, by the Animal Welfare Board of India to Chief Secretary of Punjab.

Investigating officer ASI Davinder Singh said after registering a case further investigation was launched to identify the organisers of the event and owners of the dogs who brought their pets for racing. As and when the accused are identified, their names will be added in the FIR, he said.
