Floral tributes paid to Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru

His nieces were also honoured on the occasion

Punjab Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora and Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Friday paid floral tributes to Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru during a state-level function at his native village of Issru, commemorating his martyrdom day. He had sacrificed his life during the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule.

The ministers were joined by MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura, Punjab Genco Limited Chairman Navjot Singh Jarg, Market Committee Chairman Jagtar Singh Gill Rattanheri, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, SSP Dr. Jyoti Yadav Bains, ADCs Amarjit Bains and Shikha Bhagat, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr. Pragati Rani IAS, SDM Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon, and other dignitaries.

They garlanded the statue of Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru, and felicitated nieces of Isru —  Balwinder Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Nirinder Kaur and Nirmal Kaur on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Arora highlighted the legacy of sacrifice inherited from Sikh Gurus, particularly Guru Arjun Dev and Guru Teg Bahadur, who stood against the Mughal tyranny for humanity’s sake. He noted that this spirit of self-sacrifice has been a driving force behind Punjab’s significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle.

Arora also outlined the transformative achievements of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the past three years, including the establishment of Aam Aadmi Clinics, Schools of Eminence, a forthcoming Rs 10 lakh cashless healthcare scheme and canal water supply to 90 per cent of fields through distributaries.

Meanwhile, Sond highlighted development projects in Issru, including an Aam Aadmi Clinic, a library, a new village Panchayat Home and other initiatives worth Rs 10 crore. He assured that funds would continue to flow for the development of Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru’s ancestral village.

On this occasion, District Planning Board Member Master Avatar Singh Dahiru, President of the Farmers' Wing of Khanna constituency Yadvinder Singh Bittu Libbra, Tehsildar Kirandeep Kaur Johal, BDPO Khanna Gurpreet Singh, Gurdarshan Singh Kuhli, vice-chairman Harjeet Singh Mangat, Kimti Lal, along with officials from various departments, a large number of Aam Aadmi Party leaders, and party workers were present.
