During the inspection, the team thoroughly examined sweets shops, dairy product vendors and other food business establishments to check hygiene standards and food quality compliance. A total of 19 food samples were collected, including kaju katli, paneer, khoya, curd, ghee, chamcham, used cooking oil (UCO), jam roll, barfi, besan laddoo, khoya barfi and milk cake, among others. All the samples were taken as per the FSSAI’s standards for further testing.

Civil Surgeon Dr Ramandeep Kaur stated that the Health Department was fully committed to ensuring safe, hygienic and high-quality food for the people of Ludhiana. She emphasised that no compromise would be tolerated on food quality and continuous monitoring would be conducted throughout the festive season to prevent adulteration and ensure consumer safety.

Dr Kaur further urged to all food business operators (FBOs) to maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness at their establishments, use only good-quality raw materials, and display their food safety licence prominently. This, she said, helped build consumer confidence.
