Gang of snatchers busted, three land in police dragnet

The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers and arrested three of its members here.

The police also recovered 10 mobile phones, a motorcycle used in the crime and a sharp weapon from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Harsh Arora (21), a resident of New Kailash Nagar, Akashdeep Singh (20), a resident of New Subash Nagar, and Rohit Kumar, alias Hanji (20), a resident of Khawajke village here.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Davinder Chaudhary and Basti Jodhewal SHO Inspector Jasvir Singh addressed a press conference in this regard on Sunday.

ACP Chaudhary said the accused looted a migrant of his mobile phone and other valuables at Krishna Colony on December 24. They also attacked the victim with a sharp weapon. A video of the incident also went viral. During investigation, the police identified the accused. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at their whereabouts and arrested them on Sunday.

The ACP said the accused would be produced in the court to get their police remand for further investigation.
