Gang stealing e-rickshaw batteries busted; 2 nabbed

The Moti Nagar police today claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and nabbed two of its members. The gang had been stealing batteries from e-rickshaws and had committed a theft at the e-rickshaw workshop near the cancer hospital here in city.
The suspect has been identified as Mohd Sabir Ali Khan, a native of Agra and at present staying in the Pipal chowk area, and Mukesh, a native of UP and a resident of New Azad Nagar here.
SHO, Moti Nagar police station, Inspector Varinderpal Singh said a tip-off was received that a gang had been committing theft of batteries from e-rickshaws. Recently, they stole batteries from an e-rickshaw workshop.
He said when the police started a probe, the suspects were identified. They were nabbed on Saturday. Now, their police remand would be sought so that their role in other theft incidents could be verified.
The police also suspected that the gang members could have been stealing e-rickshaw batteries from vehicles parked in residential areas. Role of some scrap dealers is also under scanner. — TNS
