Green Grove champs Albail, Manpreet shine at zonal & district sports meets

Albail wins multiple medals for shot put, Manpreet in track events

Albail Singh and Manpreet Singh, two outstanding athletes of Green Grove Public School, Mohanpur, have brought laurels to the institution by excelling in the recent zonal and district-level athletics competitions. The zonal level competition was hosted by AS Modern School, Khanna, while the district meet was organised at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana.

Albail Singh, a student of Class XI (Medical) clinched the gold in the zonal shot put competition and shined further by securing the silver at the district shot put event. Last year, he had won the gold in shot put at ‘Kedhan Vatan Punjab Dian’ hosted by the state government.

On the other hand, Class XI (Commerce) student Manpreet Singh has proved himself to be a rising star in track events. At the zonal athletics meet, he won the gold both in the 200m and 400m races. Continuing his winning streak, Manpreet secured another gold in the district level 200m race finals, defeating his competitors with exceptional pace. Manpreet also secured the silver in the 100m race at the Sahodhya School Complex Meet hosted at Guru Nanak School, Doraha.

Albail and Manpreet, who are on cloud nine after their victory, shared, “We are grateful to our coaches and teachers. In any case, there is no looking back for us now. Putting in concentrated efforts and fixing one single target to achieve the gold in the upcoming state and national events is our sole purpose.”

Albail’s father Amanpreet Singh and Manpreet’s father Lakhvir Singh expressed that their children had made them proud. They together expressed gratitude to the coaches, the management and the principal for working on their kids and making them shine in the field of sports.

Coaches Baljeet Singh and Varinder Singh shared that the extraordinary achievement of the athletes is attributed to the continuous practice, dedication and perseverance.

President JPS Jolly and Principal Suzy George honoured both the athletes with medals and certificates. They said the two budding athletes were the most befitting examples of success achieved through hard work.
