Ludhiana, August 18
A Darjeeling-based man, Shyam Raj, died in a road accident on Saturday night after a speeding motorcycle rammed into him near the Jodhewal chowk. He was staying alone in a rented house in the city for the past several years and working at a factory. Last night, he was crossing the road on foot near Dada Motors in Jodhewal Basti when he met with the mishap.
The youth riding the Enfield Bullet motorcycle also suffered minor injuries in the accident. A passer-by, Rahul, took Shyam to the Civil Hospital in an e-rickshaw but he was declared brought dead.
He said the man was crossing the road on foot. The deceased saw the truck but unfortunately he failed to notice the speeding bullet motorcycle coming behind the truck which rammed into him. The victim fell on the road and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to the Civil Hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Shyam’s friend Govind said the victim works with him in a factory. His entire family lives in Darjeeling. He was survived by his parents, wife and a five-year-old son. — TNS
