The Homeopathic Charitable Hospital, being run by Gurmat Sewa Society at Nirmal Ashram in Jandali Khurad, has left behind most government and private healthcare centres offering homeopathic care in the region.
Established on January 1, 2006, as a dispensary in a single room, the hospital now has a sophisticated complex with a separate outpatient department (OPD), a reception counter, a waiting hall and a pharmacy, besides facility wings for patients and staff. A diagnostic laboratory, well-equipped with ultramodern sophisticated machines, provides necessary tests at a nominal cost.
The hospital has a round-the-clock emergency service, along with a well-equipped ambulance. Additionally, a panel of expert doctors attend to patients suffering from chronic diseases every Sunday. At a nominal registration fee of Rs 20, patients get a consultation and medicines. Giani Gagan Deep Singh Nirmaley, the chief patron of the hospital, said hundreds of patients from over 60 villages avail themselves of this facility every Sunday.
“As most patients are those who suffer from chronic diseases, presently we are operating all OPDs on Sundays,” said Nirmaley, maintaining that emergency services were also available. He said all input costs were funded through donations by devotees, including writers, thinkers, laureates and entrepreneurs.
“The establishment of this hospital was the brainchild of some of our prosperous devotees, who contributed liberally for the construction, maintenance and operation of the hospital,” said he, adding that stocks of medicines worth lakhs were maintained with donations, too.
Ravinder Kaur Lail, a sarpanch, said the hospital had gone a long way in preventing underprivileged people in the region from being left without medical attention.
“Not only the poor, almost all followers visiting the ashram have benefit from the facilities as doctors treat beneficiaries as sangat and not patients, thus boosting their (patients) willpower,” said Lail.
