The Ludhiana Police Commissionerate in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation demolished unauthorised properties owned by three drug peddlers facing multiple cases. The operation targeted their illegal constructions in Transport Nagar here.
The demolition drive was executed under the supervision of Police Commissionerate and MC officials, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols and maintaining public order.
The properties, illegally built on MC land, belonged to Shekhar, Bimla and her son Gurmeet.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma said Shekhar was facing six criminal cases while Bimla and Gurmeet had five and three cases, respectively, registered against them across various police stations.
He underscored the state government’s zero tolerance policy towards drug trafficking while stating: “We are committed to eradicating the drug menace and protecting our youth. Strict instructions had already been issued to all SHOs to keep a tab over drug smuggling activities in the area and take immediate action,” he added.
The CP also issued a stern warning to the peddlers, urging them to abandon their illegal trade, else they would be thrown behind bars.
“We have already identified many other properties of drug smugglers and process is on to demolish same properties. Authorities will not spare assets of smugglers acquired from drug money,” asserted Sharma.
Meanwhile, SHO, Moti Nagar police station, inspector Amritpal Singh, said one property belonged to Shekhar while the other property was owned by the woman and her son.
