The Income Tax North West Region (NWR) Chandigarh XI beat Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST) XI by 32 runs in the Sub-Zone Revenue Sports Meet. The match was played here at Punjab Agricultural University ground.
Arjun Puri, captain of the Income Tax NWR XI, won the toss and opted to bat first. In the stipulated 20 overs, they scored 112 runs, in which Pawan and Puri scored 34 and 21 runs, respectively. They also shared a 60-run partnership that resulted in a decisive win.
In reply, the CGST XI, led by former international cricketer Bhupinder Singh, were bowled out for 80 runs in 18 overs. Parvinder Singh Perry of the winning side, who grabbed four wickets after conceding only eight runs in four overs, was declared the man of the match. Pankaj Saini chipped in with two wickets for the winners.
With this win, the Income Tax NWR XI team, comprising four states and Chandigarh, has qualified for the North Zone Revenue Sports Meet, to be held next month in Lucknow.
