Induction training of agri development officials begins

Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), under the guidance of Dr Jaswant Singh, Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab, has started the induction training programme for 184 newly recruited agriculture development officials (ADOs) of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab.

The programme is designed to be conducted in three batches from August 11-29 in offline mode. In the first batch, 61 ADOs attended the training.

Dr Jaswant Singh inaugurated the first batch of training programme and congratulated all newly appointed officials.

He said the officials would act as a harbinger of change as they would work at the field level and remain in constant touch with farmers. He motivated them to work with full potential and honesty. He explained about pesticide usage in the state, insecticide Act and its quality control.

Dr KB Singh, Director, PAMETI, while explaining the objective of the programme, said induction training of newly recruited officials in any organisation was important as during the same, they come to know about their roles and responsibilities for the organisation.

The training included sessions on organisational structure and functioning of the Agriculture Department and expected roles of the ADOs in the department. Heads (joint directors) of various sections/wings of the Agriculture Department will interact with the trainees and will impart knowledge about operations of their respective sections. Different Acts and rules being enforced by the department in the state regarding agricultural inputs will also be discussed in detail. The training will lead to preparation of the machinery for the welfare of farmers.

In the programme, the trainees will interact with experts and learn about seed, fertilisers and insecticide testing procedures and methods of crop residue management developed by the PAU.
