Industry discusses issues of focal points with MC Commissioner
Members of leading Industrial Associations, including those of the Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CICU and prominent businessmen from focal points, had an opportunity to meet and interact with the Commissioner MC Aaditya Dachalwal, Mayor and other dignitaries.
Talking to The Tribune, the convener of Apex Chamber Rahul Ahuja said the dignitaries patiently listened to the grievances and issues of the industrialists in Focal Points. He said the major issue of the industry was the encroachments on roads in Focal Points.
“The industrialists are worried over the ever-increasing encroachments in Focal Points. This issue was duly highlighted and noted by the officials, who assured to do something address the issue”, said Ahuja, adding that other important issues discussed were of bad roads, street lights, public parks etc.
The industrialists also proposed to the Commissioner to hand over the public parks to the Industry for maintenance and the funds could be utilised for other purposes.
Meanwhile, the MC Commissioner assured that the Focal point areas were set to get a facelift as the Municipal Corporation (MC) would be taking up projects worth around Rs 35 crore for improving road infrastructure, street lights, sewerage, parks etc in the coming time.
A presentation regarding the same was shared with the industrialists during an interactive session held by Ludhiana South MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal at Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) complex in Focal point.
MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal stated that these include projects worth around Rs 11.50 crore for upgrading road infrastructure, projects worth around Rs 7.5 crore for streets lights/high mastlights, among other projects for improving sewerage system, redeveloping parks etc. President CICU, Upkar Singh Ahuja; President FIEO SC Ralhan; President Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rajnish Ahuja and Rahul Ahuja; Vice President CICU Ram Lubhaya, Rahul Verma, among other industrial representatives, were present at the meeting. Zonal Commissioner (Zone B) Neeraj Jain, Zonal Commissioner (Zone C) Gurpal Singh, Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg, SE Praveen Singla, SE Sham Lal Gupta, MTP Vijay Kumar among officials of MC’s tehbazaari wing, B&R branch, O&M cell etc were also present at the meeting.
Lauding the efforts being put by Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, different groups of industrialists also stepped forward for taking up maintenance of various parks/green belts in Focal point area under CSR activities.
