Inter-District Senior Cricket: Rain plays spoilsport, Ludhiana-Ropar tie remains unresolved

Ludhiana, July 30
The second league match in Group A in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-District Senior One-Day Cricket Tournament, played at Ropar on Tuesday, could not be completed due to rain. Consequently, both teams shared a point each. In the first match, Ludhiana had lost to Faridkot by six wickets.
Batting first, after winning the toss, hosts Ropar were all out for 258 runs in 49.1 overs. The highlight of their innings was a fine batting performance by one down batsman Mayank Gupta who carried his bat at 150 runs that came off 147 balls and included eight sixes and 14 hits over the rope. Sahil Chander made 25 runs.
For Ludhiana, Harshit Takkar got rid of three batsmen after giving away 40 runs while Ravi Kumar and Nehal Wadhera sent back two batsmen each after conceding 36 and 48 runs, respectively. Anmoljeet and Vaibhav Kalra took one wicket each.
In reply, Ludhiana were 95 for three after 19 overs when it started raining. Nehal Wadhera and Gitansh Khera were at the crease with 31 and 11 runs to their name.
In the third match, Ludhiana will take on Mohali in Mohali on August 3.
