Intervene to resolve farmers’ issues, union urges Prez

The Bharti Kisan Union (Kadian) appealed to the President and sought her intervention to resolve issues of farmers and put pressure on the Central Government to accept their demands.

During a state-level meeting of the organisation held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar here on Tuesday, union president Harmeet Singh Kadian said the organisation wrote a letter to President Droupadi Murmu and sought time for a meeting so that they could discuss the farmers’ issues in detail and find a solution.

During the meeting, district presidents and state executive members discussed the farmers’ issues.

Kadian said during the meeting, duties of leaders were assigned for the success of the Kisan Panchayat, to be held in Moga on January 9 on the call of the United Kisan Morcha.

He said hundreds of farmers from each district would reach Moga in tractor-trailers and other vehicles to attend the event.

He said during the meeting, concern was also raised over the deteriorating condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a fast unto death. He appealed to the government to hold talks with farmer leader Dallewal and find a solution to the farmers’ issues so that the farmers who are on the path of struggle can get their rights.
