Jasraj, Gursimrat emerge champions in U-19 category

Jasraj Singh and Gursimrat Kaur overcame their respective opponents to emerge champions in the boys’ and girls’ U-19 group in the Ludhiana District Badminton Championship (U-11, 13 and 19) that concluded at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here today.
In the boys’ final, Jasraj had to toil hard against Ishaan Sharma before wrapping up the issue 18-21, 21-16 and 21-11, however, in the girls’ section, Gursimrat Kaur raced to victory in straight sets against Gurleen Kaur whom she defeated 21-16, 21-14.
Mohinder Singh Grewal and Anupam Kumaria, president and general secretary, respectively, of Ludhiana District Badminton Association gave away the prizes.

Boys’ doubles (U-19): Jasraj Singh and Varinderjit Singh beat Rajveer and Naman Narang 21-14, 21-8.
Girls’ doubles (U-19): Gursimrat Kaur and Gurleen Kaur beat Ananya Nijhawan aand Arushi Mehta 21-14, 21-13.
Mixed doubles (U-19): Jasraj Singh and Upneet Kaur beat Ishaan Sharma and Amelia Bhakoo 21-9, 21-15.
Boys’ singles (U-13): Swastik Saddi beat Harshbir Singh 21-16, 21-19.
Girls’ singles (U-13): Kaamil Sabharwal beat Aadhira Gupta 16-21, 21-8, 21-15.
Boys’ doubles (U-13): Harshbir Singh and Swastik Saddi beat Aadvik Bhatia and Sunny 21-10, 21-18.
Girls’ doubles (U-13): Kaamil Sabharwal and Tania Dhiman beat Priya Goswami and Gurnaaz Kaur 21-18, 21-11.
Boys’ singles (U-11): Rabbiguel Anji beat Ryan Singla 21-9, 21-10.
