Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has called for a mass anti-drug campaign to make the state drug-free, under the initiative ‘Nasha Mukt-Rangla Punjab’. During a meeting with representatives from various religious communities and heads of educational institutions at PAU, the Governor highlighted the state’s rich heritage, emphasising it is a land of great Guru and martyrs who made sacrifices for the nation.
He urged everyone to join the fight against drugs to restore the state’s glory through a widespread awareness drive.
The Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria said following the teachings of the Sikh Gurus could help eliminate the drug menace once and for all. He also stressed the crucial role women must play in this mission, urging them to guide their children toward the right moral path. He called on the people of the state, especially women, to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign.
The Governor said the fight against drugs cannot be won through government efforts alone. He said success would be achieved when people unite in mutual understanding and responsibility to support the government’s efforts. While the law takes its course, he urged everyone to join in creating a drug-free future for the next generation.
To further this mission, the Governor announced that a 10-day walkathon would be organised in January 2025 to spread the anti-drug message to every household across the state.
