The kaar sewa jatha of Gurdwara Langar Sahib, Nanded, led by Baba Narinder Singh and Baba Balwinder Singh along with Jathedar Major Singh and the devoted sangat, has launched an initiative to aid flood victims.
The jatha has already supplied six trucks containing essentials for humans and animals. They have also provided a boat to facilitate rescue operations to ensure safe evacuation and transportation of flood victims.
While flagging off the trucks from Gurdwara Reru Sahib in Sahnewal on Tuesday, kaar sewa Jathedar Major Singh shared, “As we consider food to be the first and foremost requirement, we are trying to arrange it daily in different areas for the maximum number of flood victims. We have tried to plan the sewa systematically. We make it a point to supply sufficient food in one go in one particular area so that we can move to the other the next day. In this manner we are able to gradually cover the maximum number of victims in a short period of time.”
“The ones who partake langar should at the same time understand that each morsel is contributed by the sangat. Everyone has the right to partake in langar but unnecessary hoarding or wastage should be avoided,” he added.
Kaar sewa chief Baba Narinder Singh said the sangat of the town and the surrounding villages was contributing generously and they had sent six trucks for aid. “We identify places where langar has to be sent and assess the count beforehand. Now, when the community needs our services, it is our duty to come to their aid and prove worthy of our gurus’ teachings. We have deployed a large number of sangat which begins to prepare food for the affected since day break and continues till late night. The feeling of satisfaction and concern which it gives to one and all contributing in the noble endeavour is immense,” shared Baba Major Singh.
“The manner in which the kaar sewa jatha has been working for the flood victims is par excellence. The sangat which contributes wholeheartedly for this noble cause, understanding the challenging times through which the people may be passing, is really blessed,” said the Sarpanch of Bhagpur village, Gagandeep Singh Dhillon, and Ravi Inder Singh Chinna.
