Kalpana, Ankush shine at Arya College athletics meet
The 77th Annual Athletics Meet of Arya College concluded on Friday after two days of fierce competition. Kalpana and Ankush were adjudged the best athletes among girls and boys, respectively.
On the final day, Dr Suksham Ahluwalia, the college principal, along with faculty members, welcomed Dr SM Sharma, the secretary of the Arya College Managing Committee (ACMC), who was the chief guest for the event. Dr Sharma presented prizes and congratulated the winners.
In the girls’ events, Nidhi secured first place in the 100m race, followed by Swati in second and Monila in third. In the 200m race, Kalpana took the top spot, with Shabnam and Nidhi finishing second and third, respectively. The 400m relay race was won by Monika and her team, with Shreya’s team taking second and Divya’s team finishing third. In the field events, Lavisha triumphed in the javelin throw, while Divya and Manya claimed second and third. Kajal was first in the shot put, with Shivani and Divya finishing second and third, respectively.
In the boys’ events, Arjun won the long jump, followed by Sujal in second and Lakshya in third. Aryan claimed first place in the shot put, with Karan and Lakshya taking second and third, respectively. In the 200m race, Ankush emerged victorious, while Rahul and Tejas secured second and third. The 400m relay race was won by Alok and his team, with Krish and his team finishing second and Ronit and his team in third. Harshpreet clinched first place in the javelin throw, with Kanishk and Varun following in second and third.
The meet highlighted the talent and determination of the college’s athletes and ended on a high note with the celebration of the winners’ achievements. — OC
