Ludhiana girls have brought glory to the city by winning five gold, four silver and two bronze medals in All India Karate Championship. The senior girls’ team also secured the Overall Trophy and the Best Demo Team Trophy.

The championship, organised by Kyorin Shotokan Karate-Do Association of Punjab and recognised by the Punjab Olympic Association, was held recently in Amritsar. Punjab Karate Federation’s general secretary Kyoshi Charanjeet Kashyap congratulated the winners upon their return to Ludhiana.

Kashyap said Sushmita won two gold medals, Mamta Rani and Saloni Devi secured silver medals and Reshma Ahirwar and Neha Rani also won gold medals. Other medallists include Sidhi, Anjali Pandey, Varsha Kumari and Gudia.

Sushmita was awarded the Best Karate award for winning two gold medals in the championship. The Ludhiana girls’ team also won the Best Demo Team Trophy. The girls credited their success to the guidance of Kyoshi Charanjeet Kashyap, their college staff and the Punjab Karate Federation.
