Kejriwal seeks public support to curb drug menace as CM Mann addresses concerns in Ludhiana

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Ludhiana on Monday to extend support to the AAP candidate from Ludhiana West, Sanjeev Arora.

The leaders addressed a public rally held at Jawahar Nagar camp here.

During the rally, a local resident commended the Mann government’s efforts to combat the drug menace and protect the youth of Punjab from addiction. However, the resident also raised concerns about the increasing incidents of snatching in the city. He pointed out that businessmen, who work long hours, often feel unsafe when returning home due to the rise in loots and snatching.

In response, CM Bhagwant Mann immediately contacted Police Commissioner Kuldeep Chahal, asking him to address the issue. Chahal assured the public that special vehicles had been deployed to combat snatching, and that there had been a significant reduction in such incidents.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal emphasised the government’s strong stance against drugs in Punjab. He highlighted that such a large-scale campaign against drugs had never been seen before in the state’s history.

Kejriwal also shared his shock after visiting a rehabilitation centre, where he learned that some youth were spending Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per day on drugs and were willing to go to any lengths to obtain them. He said once drug peddlers were fully eradicated, the crime rate in Punjab would drastically decrease.

The AAP leader urged the public to continue supporting the government in its crusade against drugs.
