The students of Khalsa College for Women (KCW), Ludhiana, were honoured for their remarkable sporting talent during the annual sports prize distribution ceremony at Panjab University in Chandigarh on March 28. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of students who excelled in various sports competitions throughout the year. Arjuna awardee Sarbjot Singh was the chief guest at the event, while Padam Shri Sunita Rani was the guest of honour and Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig graced the occasion and applauded the winners for their dedication and sportsmanship. Addressing the gathering, they emphasised the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and perseverance among students.

The top performers in basketball, road and track cycling, softball and other sports were felicitated with championship trophies. The prestigious ‘Best Sportsperson of the Year’ award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 1,46,000, was conferred upon Jasmeek Kaur Sekhon and Yaadvi in cycling; Manmeet Kaur, Nandni, Nadar Kaur, Komalpreet Kaur, Anchal, Kanishka in Basketball; and Muskan Rathi and Prerna Tokas in Judo for their exceptional contribution to the university.

The manager of the Panjab University basketball team, Navjot, was awarded Rs 10,000 cash prize for her efforts as the team bagged a bronze medal in the all India inter university championship this year.

Principal Kamaljit Grewal and Director Mukti Gill congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in sports. She congratulated Mandeep Kaur, head of the physical education department, and her team for marking yet another successful year of sports at the KCW.
