Office-bearers and activists of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (Piddi Group) held a motorcycle rally on Monday to protest against the Punjab Land Pooling Policy.
Led by Kuldeep Singh Mohi, district general secretary, Ludhiana, the rally began at Grain Market, Jodhan, and concluded at the GLADA office in Ludhiana after passing through the villages of Ballowal, Dhaipai, Khandoor, Mohie, Rurka, Chhokran, Pamali, Pamal, Hassanpur and Bhanohar.
Speakers, including Mohi, Hardeep Singh Ballowal (KMSC) and Tapinder Singh (BKU Azad), said the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, had failed to understand the potential adverse effects of the alleged anti-farmer policy and its likely damaging impact on the economy of the border belt.
Protesters warned that they would intensify their agitation if the government did not withdraw the policy.
