Lance Naik Pritpal Singh cremated with full state honours at native village
Indian Army soldier Lance Naik Pritpal Singh from Manupur village, near Samrala, who attained martyrdom during an ongoing Indian Army operation in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, cremated with full state honours on Sunday at his native village.
Samrala MLA Jagtar Singh Diyalpura, along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajnish Arora and SP Tejvir Singh Hundal, paid tributes to the martyr on behalf of the state government and district administration.
Soldiers of the Indian Army performed the ceremonial last salute.
The Samrala SDM while sharing condolences with Pritpal’s wife Manpreet Kaur, father Harbans Singh, mother and brothers, affirmed that the district administration would be always ready to assist their family.
Pritpal Singh had joined the Indian Army in 2015. His uncle and father’s elder brother are also ex-servicemen. Pritpal had married just six months ago and had returned home on leave for the wedding.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a tweet stated: “In an encounter with terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, a tragic news was received about the martyrdom of soldier Pritpal Singh from Manupur village in Khanna and sepoy Harminder Singh from Badinpur village in Mandi Gobindgarh. We express our heartfelt condolences to their families. We salute the spirit and bravery of the soldiers who were martyred for the defence of the country. As per the government’s promise, an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore each will be provided to families of the martyrs.”
