Landa gang member arrested after encounter in Ludhiana

A key member of the notorious Landa gang was arrested by police following an encounter in Sahibana village on Thursday. The exchange of fire began when the gang member opened fire on a police party that had surrounded him.

The encounter started at 7:30 a.m. and continued for approximately 40 minutes.

The accused was critically injured in the cross-firing before being apprehended.

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said the team recovered one illegal weapon and several live cartridges from the accused.

The accused is wanted in connection with a firing incident targeting a house, for which a case was registered on April 20. Another accused in the same incident, identified as Akshay, was arrested on April 29.

“We are looking into the matter and will further investigate the case in detail,” added the police officer.
