The second and final day of the Philatelic Exhibition saw large participation of city residents.
The chief guest, Nasim Arshi, Principal Commissioner of Customs, Ludhiana, speaking on the occasion congratulated Balbir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Ludhiana City Division, for organising the event aimed at promoting philately among the different sections of society, particularly the students.
Arshi reminisced about the old days, when people used to wait eagerly for the postman to bring their letters and money orders.
“The Department of Post has its own history and glory which must be preserved. Though technological advances have reduced the importance of letters, yet post offices play an important role and have evolved as per demand,” Arshi added.
Balbir Singh said that the exhibition was not merely an event but it reflected the commitment of the Department of Posts to be associated with society in every possible way.
He added that this was a rare opportunity for Punjabis to be connect with the world of philately. Later, a quiz on the topic ‘philately and current affairs’, was organised for schoolchildren by the postal team of the division.
