Loaded truck overturns on flyover, triggers major traffic jam for hours
A loaded truck overturned on the Gill Chowk flyover near Atam Park Chowk in the early hours today. The incident occurred around 2.30 am when the driver, in an attempt to avoid a car in front of the truck, lost control of the vehicle. The truck crashed into the bridge railing and overturned, spilling a large quantity of goods onto the road.
The driver and his son, who was travelling with him, escaped unharmed. The truck was carrying goods to Baddi town. The impact of the collision caused significant damage to the vehicle.
Police and emergency services responded quickly and an investigation into the incident has been launched. The overturned truck caused a substantial traffic jam, which was eventually cleared after concerted efforts by the traffic police. The road was reopened once the scattered goods were transferred to another truck and the damaged vehicle was removed.
It was seen as a narrow escape, especially given the typically high traffic volume in the area.
