Ludhiana boys’ team emerged champions at the 12th Junior Punjab Baseball Tournament, organised by the Punjab Baseball Association (PBA) at Jivan Mal Government Senior Secondary School Ground, Zira, in Ferozepur. Fourteen teams took part in the tournament.
In the final, Ludhiana beat Ferozepur 9-5 to clinch the title in which Durgesh and Mantekvir chipped in with two runs each. In the semi-finals, Ludhiana outperformed Amritsar 6-2 and Ferozepur outwitted Sangrur 13-8 to secure berths in the summit clash.
Earlier, in the league matches, Ferozepur prevailed over Fatehgarh Sahib 1-0, Mohali outclassed Fazilka 6-2, Patiala defeated Malerkota 2-0, Ropar scraped past Mansa 1-0, Amritsar got the better of Barenala 2-1, Moga overwhelmed Karuthala 11-1, Ludhiana edged out Ropar 2-0, Sangrur pipped Mohali 9-7, Amritsar outclassed Patiala 4-2 and Feerozepur blanked Moga 14-0. In the match to decide third position, Amritsar beat Sangrur 5-2 to finish as second runners-up.
