Ludhiana-I zone boys triumph in badminton

Ludhiana-I zone boys stamped their superiority by clinching the top positions in badminton in the U-14, 17 and 19 categories during the Ludhiana District Schools Games, organised by the Punjab Education Department at various venues across the district on Saturday.

At BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, in the U-14 section, Samrala zone and Sahnewal zone secured the second and third positions, respectively, while in the U-17 category, the second position was bagged by the PAU zone and the third place was obtained by the Rara Sahib zone.

In the U-19 group, PAU zone and Sahnewal zone finished at the second and third places, respectively. In weightlifting (boys U-17), at Naresh Chand Stadium, Khanna, Ishan Batta of Khanna came out victorious in the below 56 kg weight category, while Pukhraj Singh of Rara Sahib and Gurnavdeep Singh of Jagraon finished at the second and third places, respectively.

In the below 60kg weight section, Shivam Dubey of Sahnewal, Inderjeet Singh of Ludhiana and Amrinder Singh of Rajewal secured the top three positions, respectively. In basketball, Ludhiana-I zone, PAU zone and Sahnewal zone won the top three places in the boys U-14 and U-17 groups, while in U-19 category, PAU zone boys proved too good for their opponents. The second and third positions were bagged by Ludhiana-I and Sahnewal, respectively.
