Ludhiana Inspector Suresh Kumar awarded President’s Police medal on Independence Day

Ludhiana police Inspector Suresh Kumar, currently working in Punjab Counter Intelligence, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service on the occasion of Independence Day in recognition of his outstanding service spanning over 36 years.

Only two police officers from Punjab, Inspector Suresh and ADGP PAP Farooqui, have received the medal this year.

Kumar has earned numerous honours over the course of his tenure, including the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day 2016, and the Chief Minister’s Medal for outstanding devotion to duty in 2023.

He has also been decorated with Commendation Discs of Director General of Police four times in 2010, 2017, 2022 and 2023.

Additionally, he has secured more than 200 commendation certificates and 10 appreciation letters from senior police officers. He also stood All-Round First in Basic Training amongst 600 recruits of his batch at Jahan-Khelan in 1990.

Among other notable cases, Inspector Kumar played a pivotal role in solving Punjab’s biggest dacoity of Rs 8.49 crore at the office of CMS, a cash management firm.

Talking to The Tribune, Kumar said, “It is a matter of great pride for me that I have been selected for this prestigious award. I would continue to perform policing with honesty and dedication to keep the pride of khakhi high as always. I also urge youngsters to join police and serve the nation.”
