Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal, teams have been deployed to conduct raids at night and early morning in areas notorious for illegal dumping. During the patrols late last night, the MC team issued fines to more than 20 people caught throwing garbage on the streets.

A little after 10 pm, the MC team reached Basti Jodhewal Chowk and apprehended several offenders dumping waste from Basti Jodhewal to Karabara Chowk. Among those fined were shopkeepers, street vendors and residents.

The Commissioner has directed health branch officers in all four zones to identify and monitor illegal dumping sites and ensure strict enforcement.

“Throwing garbage on the roadside will not be tolerated,” Dechalwal said, instructing officials to maintain round-the-clock vigilance.

The MC is issuing challans of Rs 5,000 to violators. Officials are also demanding ID proof from offenders and, in cases where IDs are not provided, visiting their homes to ensure compliance.
