The accused has been identified as Amrit Singh, alias Labha, of Malsian Wali Basti, Zira (District Ferozepur). The police have also recovered one .32 bore pistol, two live cartridges and a bike.

Ludhiana Rural SSP Dr Ankur Gupta informed that since the incident on March 5, the police teams were following the accused and he was apprehended after an Intelligence-based operation jointly by the CIA, Ludhiana rural, and the AGTF. He informed that his location was tracked near the Jagraon-Sidhwan Bet Road.

Gupta added that the police chased him and instead of surrendering, the accused fired three gunshots at the police, out of which one hit the police vehicle. Acting in self-defence, the police party retaliated and the accused sustained an injury in his right leg. He was taken to the local Civil Hospital where his condition is stable.
