“Ludhiana taught me to see dreams and how to live those,” said ace Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh evoking a roar of applause from Ludhianivis at his Dil-Luminati tour event on the Punjab Agricultural University campus to mark the New Year.

He told youngsters to weave dreams and work hard.

“I had an option to organise the event in Goa but I chose Ludhiana as this place is closest to my heart," he shared with the audience in between singing his famous numbers. Wearing a traditional Punjabi kurta pyjama under a black jacket, he began with the song “Jat da pyar Kudiye”.

Audience cutting across all ages jumped and clapped with excitement and welcomed the New Year. The singer-actor concluded his tour in Ludhiana with fans were seen shouting “Punjabi Ghar Aa Gaye Oye” (The Punjabi singer has returned home).

Everyone at the PAU ground was trying to go with the flow as soon as the heartthrob of millions of fans, Diljit started to perform on the huge stage set-up for him and his troupe. He started the night with the song “Jat da Pyar Kudiye” and then with his humour and wit, regaled the audience in thousands. The local fan-base of the singer made the night more memorable with a lot of applause.

The magic of the singer was not to be missed. Not only the young generation but the middle aged and all others present also were seen enjoying every moment of the concert. The singer performed his leading numbers, including Punjab, GOAT, Don, Clash, Do you know, Born to shine, etc.

It was twinkling all over the ground as thousands of fans had switched on flashlights of their mobile phones to record moments from the live concert, which they were regularly posting on social media, sharing with their near and dear ones. The singer had started the first show of the much-hyped Dil-Luminati tour from Delhi.

Long serpentine queues of vehicles were witnessed all over, where parking of vehicles was to be done. Many fans were seen reaching the venue by walking upto 2-3 km, though it was claimed that e-vehicles were arranged by organizers for the audience.

Hundreds of fans started gathering outside the venue since 3:30 pm to avoid the last-minute rush though the show was scheduled to start at 8:30 pm. Even the intense cold wave failed to dampen the spirits of Diljit’s fans who were struggling hard to get a glimpse of the singer.

Even till 4 pm on Tuesday, people were looking for availability of tickets and many fans were lucky enough to get these at much lesser prices. As Raghav, a Civil Lines resident, said he got two gold tickets for Rs 12,000 on December 31 itself. “A person had purchased many tickets and a few were not sold, hence, he gave me by incurring losses to the tune of Rs 8,000,” said an elated Raghav.

Elaborate security arrangements were made near the venue to stop any untoward incident as it was New Year’s Eve and most of the residents were out to enjoy some fun-filled moments.

Even during the day, reels were posted on social media about the “preparedness” by youths for the show by selecting outfits, shoes, etc. These reels kept social users busy.

The singer also went to Gurdwara Nanaksar amid tight security to seek blessings of the Almighty before the show during the daytime.
