Ludhiana to face Ferozepur in girls' baseball championship final

Hosts Ludhiana and Ferozepur registered convincing wins in their respective semi-finals to set up a title clash in the 13th Junior Punjab State Baseball Championship for Girls at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill village, near Ludhiana. Sixteen teams are participating in the competition.

In the semi-finals, Ludhiana trounced Moga 9-1, with Navjot and Shanti scoring two runs each. Ferozepur outplayed Sangrur 10-2, driven by strong performances from Amanatdeep and Simran, who made two runs apiece.

Earlier, in the league stage, Kapurthala beat Fazilka 1-0, Ludhiana overcame Ropar 2-0, Sangrur routed Fatehgarh Sahib 11-0, and Jalandhar defeated Mansa 9-7. Amritsar blanked Barnala 2-0, Ferozepur overpowered Muktsar 10-0, Patiala beat Malerkotla 2-0, and Moga crushed Mohali 10-0.

In the quarter-finals, Ludhiana defeated Kapurthala 6-0, Ferozepur edged out Amritsar 9-8, Sangrur overcame Jalandhar 7-5, and Moga beat Patiala 6-1.

The championship was inaugurated by Gurvir Singh Shahi, managing director, Shahi Sports College of Physical Education, Samrala. Sukhdev Singh Aulakh and Harbir Singh Gill, president and general secretary of the Punjab Baseball Association, respectively, were also present along with other dignitaries.
