Ludhiana tops state in arrest of drug peddlers
In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate has emerged as the top performing district in Punjab, in terms of arrests of drug suppliers and peddlers.
As part of an intensified anti-drug drive, the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate has successfully arrested 383 drug peddlers and 75 key suppliers to date, marking the highest percentage of arrests in the state. This record-breaking performance underscores the department’s relentless commitment and strategic enforcement operations to curb the drug menace in the region.
Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Swapan Sharma commended the efforts of the field officers and their dedicated teams for the consistent vigilance and swift action.
He reiterated the department’s pledge to continue its crackdown on illegal drug activities and safeguard the youth and residents of Ludhiana from the harmful impact of narcotics.
The public is encouraged to support the police in this vital mission by sharing any information related to drug-related activities through designated helplines.
The police is actively facilitating the voluntary admission of addicts to OOAT (Outpatient Opioid Assisted Treatment) centres and conducting targeted CASO (Cordon and Search Operations) to apprehend drug peddlers. The department is also organising Police-Public Sampark meetings to foster trust and cooperation in the fight against drugs under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign.
