The Vigilance Bureau claimed to have nabbed the main suspect involved in a case in which nine persons, including revenue personnel, were booked for conspiring to usurp a plot belonging to a US citizen.

The suspect, who claimed to be Deepu Singh of Nurpur Bet, seller of the plot, has been identified as Gurpreet Singh Gopi of Partap Singh Wala village in the Humbran area of Ludhiana district.

The Vigilance had registered a case against nine individuals, including Tehsildar Jagsir Singh Saran for fraudulently executing the sale deed of 14 kanal plot in Ludhiana actually belonging to the US citizen Deep Singh.

Though the market value of the land is in crores, the accused forged documents for executing the sale deed and sold it for Rs 30 lakh.

Gurpreet is being interrogated to know the modus operandi of the accused.
