Malkhana theft case: Tea vendor held for keeping stolen money

The Ludhaina rural police said they had arrested a tea vendor who had taken money from head constable Gurdas Singh, the main accused in the malkhana theft case. The tea vendor, despite knowing that the accused cop had stolen money from the malkhana, kept the same with him.

The arrested tea vendor was identified as Manoj Kumar and the police recovered Rs 6 lakh from him. With this, the amount recovered stands at Rs 19 lakh. Police sources said that some acquaintances and relatives of the accused were also on the radar as it was being suspected that the accused cop might have stowed the stolen money with them.

The accused cop, posted at Sidhwan Bet police station, was arrested by the police on November 12 for stealing Rs 1.25 crore of case property money.
