Man arrested for sexually harassing minor daughter
The Police Division 3 on Friday arrested a man who had sexually harassed his 17-year-old daughter.
The suspect is a resident of Ludhiana.
The complainant, the mother of the victim, told the police that on February 16, her husband dragged their daughter to a room and attempted to harass her sexually. Her daughter acted swiftly and pushed the suspect away and escaped from the place.
The victim’s mother said later, they lodged a police complaint and after investigation a case was registered against the suspect.
Investigating officer ASI Harjit Singh said the suspect was arrested and further probe was launched in the case.
In another case of sexual harassment, a 70-year-old man, Harpal Singh, was accused of performing obscene acts with a 10-year-old girl in Ludhiana. The girl, who was frightened, confided to her uncle about the incident.
According to the police complaint, the girl’s uncle noticed that she had been looking frightened for some days. When he took her to the market, she refused to go to a particular street. On enquiry, the girl broke down and revealed the incident. She said on February 14 when she was going to the market, the suspect forcibly touched her body parts and also kissed her.
The police registered a case against Harpal on Friday and initiated a probe. The suspect is still at large, despite a raid at his house. The investigating officer, ASI Surinder Singh, confirmed that the police started the probe based on the complaint filed by the girl’s uncle.
