Ludhiana, August 3
A man attacked his wife with an axe in Guru Nanak Nagar, Khanna. The woman suffered a broken jaw and serious injuries on her face.
Fifty-year-old Nirmal Kaur was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Khanna from where she was referred to a hospital in Ludhiana.
Ramandeep Kaur, daughter-in-law of the injured woman, Nirmal Kaur, said her father-in-law was not going to work for the past few days. Her mother-in-law Nirmal Kaur used to do cleaning work in houses and was the bread-winner of the family due to his poor financial condition.
She further said her father-in-law kept asking for money causing tension in the house. Enraged, her father-in-law attacked her mother-in-law with an axe. When he tried to attack again, the neighbours came to the rescue and admitted her mother-in-law to the Civil Hospital.
Doctors on emergency duty at the Civil Hospital said Nirmal Kaur’s nose and jaw was broken in the incident. As there is no ENT specialist at the Khanna hospital, she has been referred to the Ludhiana Civil Hospital for further treatment.
SHO, City Police Station-2, Inspector Gurmeet Singh, said the police would record the statement of the victim and action would be taken as per law.
