An attempt was made to abduct a 5-year-old girl at Ramesh Nagar on Monday evening. However, before the accused could succeed in his motives, residents apprehended him and handed him over to the police.
Rohit Verma, a resident of Ramesh Nagar, said that he was walking outside his house around 7.30 pm on Monday and that he saw an unknown man trying to abduct a girl from the street. When he questioned the alleged person, the accused tried to flee. Local residents present there immediately took action and apprehended the accused. Residents then informed the police and the accused was handed over.
Residents said the girl’s father lived abroad while she stayed here with her mother. They said the girl had come out of the house while the rest of her family was inside.
ASI Kamal Kumar said the accused was taken to Tibba police station and a probe was on.
