Man found murdered in fields at Haibowal
The body of a man was found in the fields on the Chuharpur road in Haibowal here. There were injury marks on the head of the deceased.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Hanif. He was staying with his in-laws in the Chuharpur road area for the past five years. He is a native of Malerkotla. The police took the victim’s body in their custody and kept it in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
According to information, Hanif’s in-laws were into farming and animal husbandry. He used to take care of the farm and animals. On Sunday night, he left home, saying that he would return in the morning. When Hanif did not return home, his wife went to the room near the fields to search for him and she was shocked to see his body was lying in a pool of blood.
His wife informed the family about the incident. Family members said a person, Billa, who used to work with Haneef in the fields, was missing.
SHO Haibowal police station inspector Madhu Bala said the deceased had injury marks on his head and it seems he was murdered.
A case was being registered and soon, the suspect(s) would be held, the SHO added.
