A man, along with his wife, killed his father after the latter refused to transfer property in their name. The suspects were arrested by the Khanna police.
The suspects were identified as Jugraj Singh and his wife Renu Rani, residents of Jatana, Khanna.
The complainant, Bhinder Singh, said his brother Balvir Singh was staying with his wife Manjit Kaur and son Jugraj Singh, alias Raju, and daughter-in-law Renu Rani. In 2023, his daughter-in-law went to her ancestral Majri village. At that time, Renu Rani demanded that her father-in-law should get his house in Jatana village transferred to her name.
“My nephew Jugraj is addicted to alcohol and drugs and does not do any work. My brother Balvir used to work as a shuttering contractor. He had a Tata 407, which my nephew had sold without informing him. Jugraj also kept selling shuttering equipment in his father’s absence. He even used to quarrel with my brother and kept harassing him,” Bhinder said.
On June 25, when he met his brother at the gate of the village, his son and daughter-in-law were harassing him, They were saying that they would kill him for not transferring property in their name. On the intervening night of June 25 and 26, they took an axe from the house and hit Balvir, who was sleeping in a room, seriously injuring him. To save themselves, the suspects pretended that some unidentified persons had attacked Balvir. He was rushed to SPS Hospital, Sherpur Chowk, but the suspects deliberately brought him home without getting him treated, due to which he died there.
Later, the victim’s brother lodged a complaint and a murder case was lodged.
