Man nabbed for selling SUV taken on rent from car dealer
Suspect had also prepared fake documents of vehicle
The Ludhiana police arrested a man who had sold a car he took on rent from a dealer. The suspect had also prepared fake documents of the vehicle.
He has been identified as Dharamvir Singh, a resident of Ganganagar, Rajasthan, while the other suspect who is at large, was identified as Gurnoor Singh, a resident of Bathinda. One unidentified person is also at large in the case.
The complainant, Gaganpreet Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, told the police that his company, SB Car Plaza, deals in rental and sale purchase of vehicles at Bhogiwal village, Malerkotla district. He had rented a black Fortuner Sigma vehicle to Gurnoor on July 1 and on October 1, the latter was supposed to return the same but he did not return the SUV.
“After enquiring at my own level, I came to know that Dharamvir and his other accomplices, along with Gurnoor, were running a gang. They used to take vehicles on rent, prepare fake documents and sell them fraudulently. Later, I lodged a police complaint, which led to the registration of case against the suspects. One of the suspects, Dharamvir was arrested,” he said.
Investigating oficer ASI Ashwani Kumar said after registering a case, one person was arrested and raids were being conducted to nab the other suspects. The arrest of all suspects would further expose their network. The police would also probe how many cars they had sold by adopting the same modus operandi.
