Man nabbed with 22 cases of illicit liquor
Further probe launched to inquire about big smugglers involved in trade
The Machhiwara police arrested a liquor smuggler and recovered 22 cases of illicit liquor from him.
The suspect was identified as Jaskaran Singh, alias Changa, a resident of Koom Kalan.
Investigating officer ASI Sanjeev Kumar said to check anti-social elements, the Machhiwara police had laid a naka near Guru Gobind Singh Stadium on the Kohara road. On suspicion, the police team signalled a car to stop for checking during which 22 boxes of illicit liquor were recovered. The person could not produce any licence or permit of the same on the spot, due to which a case was registered against him and he was arrested by the police.
The ASI said further investigation was launched to inquire about big smugglers involved in the liquor smuggling trade.
